* Arthur R. Kydd, Chairman, is the President of QuestStar Medical and the St. Croix Management Group. He has been involved in venture capital activities for many years, and as an officer and founder of numerous ventures, including FilmTec Corporation (a membrane company acquired by Dow Chemical), Arizant Inc. (Citigroup Venture Capital), Apprise Technologies (EcoLab) and many others. He is an engineering graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology, and for 10 years co-taught a M.B.A. – level new products course in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
* Christopher J. Owen, Secretary and a member of the board of directors, was the Founder, President and CEO of Apprise Technologies (acquired by Ecolab in 2007), a venture backed sensor development and manufacturing company. Prior to Apprise, he operated his own consulting and process optimization company. From 1988 to 1997, he was a Research Associate at the University of Minnesota’s Natural Resource Research Institute (NRRI) where his research focused on sensor system development for environmental monitoring systems. He is widely published in his field and holds numerous patents related to sensing and process optimization. Mr. Owen currently leads the Sensor and Controls Group for Ecolab Corporation. He holds degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Minnesota.
* Gregory B. Graves, member of the board of directors, is a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Entegris, Inc., a materials management company producing microelectronic products for the semiconductor industry including liquid and gas micro-contamination control products. He has his M.B.A. Degree from the University of Virginia and a Masters Degree in Accounting & Taxation from the University of Alabama.
* Hiroshi Nomura, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer at the company and at QuestStar Medical, is the inventor of technologies licensed from QuestStar. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Tokyo, and was a visiting scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysics at Frankfurt, Germany. He was Research Associate Professor at the University of Missouri, working with Professor Yasuda, an authority in the field of plasma polymerization, in the development of plasma polymerization techniques, polymer membranes and surface coating technologies. He has 16 issued patents (an additional 5 pending) in the membrane field.
* John Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer, and member of the board of directors, was formerly the President and CEO of Arizant Inc., a health care company in Minneapolis. He was instrumental in growing this company to over $100 million in sales and thereafter championed the merger of Arizant into Citigroup Venture Capital. He is a board member of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and has been active in numerous civic and educational programs, and in various fund-raising initiatives at the University of Minnesota and elsewhere. He has a Master of Arts Degree in Physical Education, South Dakota State University, and has completed partial requirements in the Doctorate of Education program at the University of Northern Colorado.
